If you have a web site on the internet, you certainly want it to be found and accessed by as many users as possible. However, as most of the people searching for a certain topic on the WWW will not know the exact domain names of all the web sites pertaining to any given topic, every web site should be registered with search engines and online web directories, which are indexing web sites according to categories or keywords to be searched after.

Another important point is to be at or near the top of the search results of the respective search engine, ideally on the first page of these results. If your web site can be found only on the fifth or tenth result page, it might for all practical purposes not be indexed at all - nearly no user will really have the patience to go through scores of pages.

Therefore it is most important to consider this already when designing a web site - making it 'search engine friendly' through the inclusion of keywords, good, targeted text content, so-called title and meta-tags, describing image tags, etc. - all things which we include by default when designing web sites.

Then, after the site is completed, there are two choices of submission to the search engines:

 Free submission:
This is the basic choice, which we automatically implement for web design/web hosting customers. Unfortunately more and more search eninges, although offering free submission, clearly prefer paid submissions over free submitted web sites in the search result rankings.

 Paid submission:
If you consider to invest in search engine submission, there are several choices available: Submissions for fixed yearly amounts, pay-per-clickthrough submissions, banner advertising, enhanced listings (with a small logo besides your listing, etc.) and others.

Here it is very important to have a clear picture of what you want: What/where is your target market? What is your budget? Under which keywords/keyphrases do you want your web site to be found?...
